About Us

Community Connection Allies (CCA) officially attained its name March 14, 2018. Its history begins as two non-profit corporations in 2002; Nemadji Child Care and Nemadji Nutrition Center.

These corporations were the vision of several individuals and groups who lived and worked in northern Pine County. Their vision became a reality when Nemadji Research Corporation (NRC) moved its headquarters to the former Bruno Elementary School in 1998. With the business came jobs, children who needed care, and people who needed a place to eat. NRC’s new headquarters had extra space; a gymnasium and fully-functioning professional kitchen. The perfect setting to start a child care facility and kitchen. In 2001, Nemadji Child Care was incorporated and opened its doors on July 8, 2002 to provide child care to the children of the employees at NRC as well as children of the community. In 2002, Nemadji Nutrition Center was incorporated and opened in July of 2002. Nemadji Nutrition Center focused on serving meals to the children at Nemadji Child Care, seniors in the community through senior dining sites, meals on wheels, and serving meals to the employees of NRC as well as members of the community. These two non-profit corporations were merged on August 18, 2003 to form Nemadji Community Resource Center.

During the fall of 2017, the CCA Board revisited the mission, vision, and philosophy of the founding individuals and groups. The Board agreed the commitment to provide high quality child care and education to children and families in the community as well as high quality, nutritious meals to children, seniors and other individuals in the community was and is ongoing. However, throughout the discussions several opportunities to expand and provide service resources to the residents of northern Pine County communities were identified. Because of the expanded opportunities, a name change was implemented to reflect the larger-scale mission and vision of the current Board of Directors.

CCA’s vision is to serve as a key resource coordinator to the communities of Northern Pine County while carrying out its mission “To strengthen our communities through partnerships and resource coordination that enriches the lives of children, the disabled, families, low-income, seniors, and veterans.”

As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit corporation, the CCA Board of Directors oversees the organization, works to secure funding through fundraising and grants, and ensures the organization progresses within the intent and vision of the founding individuals and groups.
